a note from the journey
On a trip to Haiti in 2008, I photographed a tap-tap while traveling toward Port-au-Prince with my family. More than transportation, these hand-painted vehicles are moving works of art — each one carrying people, history, and the unmistakable identity of the communities they travel through.
I have always followed the things that make my eyes travel — color, texture, memory, people, and the stories hidden in ordinary places.
I didn't realize it then, but I was photographing the kind of beauty I continue to search for today. 8 Point Intersection is rooted in the belief that everyday objects, overlooked materials, and thoughtful craftsmanship can become visual narratives. Whether I'm reconstructing a garment, highlighting the architecture of a seam, or preserving the hand of the maker, I'm still chasing the same feeling I found on that road in Haiti — the moment when utility becomes art and ordinary moments become unforgettable.
