In Every Thread

Two years ago for my birthday, I made a sweater from a remnant textile donated to Materials for the Arts and hand-sewed each carnelian stone onto its surface. The idea began with a reading in which I was encouraged to wear carnelian as a symbol of courage, transforming the garment into something both celebratory and deeply personal.

The piece reflects the heart of 8 Point Intersection: giving overlooked materials a new life, honoring the slow work of the hand, and allowing clothing to carry meaning beyond its function. Every stone became a small act of intention — a reminder that a garment can hold memory, transformation, and the courage required to step into a new year of one's life.
